A chapel doorway, a bar lit by surgical lamps and a terrace on Southernhay, two minutes from the Cathedral.
You’ll find Cosy Club Exeter in the Halford Wing of the old Dean Clarke Hospital, tucked among the Georgian terraces of Southernhay. It’s a restaurant and bar with a bit of Exeter in its bones: you come in through what was the hospital chapel, the bar glows under surgical lamps, and there are enough velvet lampshades to make you forget you only popped in for a coffee.
Come for an indulgent breakfast or laid-back brunch, stay for a long lunch, dinner with friends or cocktails after dark. Heading to the Cathedral, the Barnfield Theatre or the shops at Princesshay? We’re a short stroll from all three, making us an easy stop before a show, between plans or at the end of a big day.
When the sun’s out, take it outside. Our terrace is one of the loveliest spots in the city for a long lunch or an early evening drink.
We’re open from 9am every day, until 11.30pm Thursday to Saturday.

All-day dining in the heart of Exeter
Whatever brings you to Exeter this autumn, Cosy Club is open, warm and ready to welcome you. Come in from the cold for a Chocolate Chai and a Classic Breakfast, go all in on the Cosy Butcher’s Brunch, or make a weekend of it with bottomless brunch and a Bloody Mary.
Come back later for small plates; the Sharing Monkey Bread, made exclusively for Cosy Club by Baker Tom in Cornwall, is one to fight over. Then it’s on to slow-roasted pork belly with braised savoy cabbage, our Malvani chicken curry built on 15 aromatic spices, or a 28-day dry-aged rib-eye from Aubrey Allen, with a side of macaroni cheese because it’s that time of year. Vegan and gluten free options run right through the menu, from crispy cauliflower to the chestnut mushroom curry.

Festive menus run from 18th November through to Christmas Eve. Tuck into three courses from £29.95 – sharing starters dealt to the table, your choice of main, puddings that’ll have you reconsidering your earlier promise to take it easy.

Exeter does Christmas beneath the Cathedral, and Cosy Club Exeter is just a short walk from Cathedral Green.
The Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market runs from 13th November to 13th December 2026, with more than 100 chalets bringing gifts, food, festive treats and mulled wine to the shadow of the Cathedral. Come for the shopping and stay for dinner.
At Exeter Northcott Theatre, Le Navet Bete are back with Sleeping Beauty from 27th November 2026 to 3rd January 2027. The panto follows four years of box-office records for the team behind it, promising plenty of laughter, costumes, music and festive chaos.
Then there are the carols. Exeter Cathedral’s Christmas programme includes the Advent Procession on 29th November, the Lord Mayor and Dean’s Carol Service on 7th December, Christmas with the Cathedral Choir from 8th–12th December, and the Grandisson Service of Lessons & Carols on 23rd and 24th December.
